Mr Andrew Broad MP, Member for Mallee, officially opened the second stage of the Secondary School Classroom Wing at Kerang Christian College on Thursday this week. The new building constructed at the north end of the College campus includes a general purpose classroom, break-out classroom, video conference classroom, office for teaching staff, locker area, outdoor area and a beautiful garden.
“It is an exciting time in the history of Kerang Christian College as the College commenced offering Year 12 studies in 2016,” highlighted Mr Michael Bond, Principal at Kerang Christian College. “The construction of the Secondary School Classroom Wing is a physical reminder of the completion of the College’s expansion to Year 12 in 2016.”
The physical landscape of the College has rapidly changed during the past five years with new modern infrastructure developed throughout the College property, beautifully linked with red brick pattern paths and lovely gardens.
The College thanked the Australian Government for their contribution of $220,000 as part of the Government’s Capital Grants program. This contribution was of great assistance to the College and has ensured that the growth plans at Kerang Christian College have become a reality for the school community.
A key feature of this building project was the development of a state-of-the-art video conferencing facility. This facility allows students and teachers to work collaboratively with other schools and resource providers.
The Strategic Plan (2015 – 2020) for Kerang Christian College highlights the importance of designing learning environments to best meet the needs of the students. The College is aiming to develop learning areas to reflect contemporary learning needs and curriculum demands. The College Board and Leadership Team are committed to constructing the most appropriate infrastructure for the school community. The new learning spaces developed at the College are flexible to accommodate for a wide range of learning activities. Furthermore, the College is committed to integrating appropriate technology to support and enhance the learning taking place in the classrooms.
