Dad finds $135,000 gold nugget

Year 1 student Indianna Brown had a very special show recently. She surprised her classmates and teacher, Mrs Kate Nelson, with a massive gold nugget, weighing an astounding 87 ounces.

Her dad found the nugget using a handheld detector at approximately 9:30am earlier in the same week in the northern quadrant of the Golden Triangle in Victoria. The nugget was located about six inches underground. Mr Brown initially thought there was a big piece of steel underground and only decided to dig in the area with a pick after passing the same spot for a second time.

Indianna’s classmates all had an opportunity to hold the gold nugget and had a wide range of questions for Mr Brown.
